MWISP

The Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting (MWISP) project is an ongoing unbiased Galactic plane survey of 12CO(1-0), 13CO(1-0) and C18O(1-0) emission using the Superconducting SpectroScopic Array Receiver system on the Purple Mountain Observatory 13.7m telescope.

The survey covers the longitude range l = (-10°,250°) and the latitude range |b| < 5.°2 across the velocity range VLSR = (-130,130) km/s (TBC). The final survey will cover 2600 square degrees.

The intrinsic angular resolution of the MWISP survey is ~50 arcseconds and the velocity resolution is 0.16 km/s for 12CO(1-0) and 0.17 km/s for 13CO(1-0) and C18O(1-0). The typical rms sensitivity per channel of the original data cubes is σ(T) ~ 0.5K for 12CO(1-0), and σ(T) ~ 0.3K for 13CO(1-0) and C18O(1-0).

CADE currently delivers 12CO(1-0), 13CO(1-0) and C18O(1-0) integrated intensity and peak brightness maps of a 250 square degree pilot region described the initial MWISP survey paper (Su et al 2019, see below). To facilitate processing, the original WCS FITS data cubes were binned to 0.5km/s prior to the generation of the HEALpix moment maps delivered by CADE.

Please contact us cade@irap.omp.eu if you require MWISP maps at a different angular resolution for your science. The spatial coverage of the MWISP maps delivered by CADE will be expanded according to future MWISP data releases.
