Forgotten Quadrant Survey

The Forgotten Quadrant Survey (FQS) was an ESO large project that used the 12 m antenna of the Arizona Radio Observatory to map 12CO(1-0) and 13CO(1-0) emission in the Galactic plane. The 12CO(1-0) observations by the FQS cover a region within the longitude range l = (+220°,+240°) and latitude range b = (-2.°5,0°) where the visual extinction (Av) exceeds 3 mag. The coverage of the 13CO(1-0) observations is restricted to regions with Av > 4mag.

The intrinsic angular resolution of the FQS data is ~55 arcseconds, and the velocity resolution is 0.65 km/s. The typical rms sensitivity per 0.65 km/s channel of the FQS 12CO (1-0) data cubes is σ(T) ~1K, and σ(T) ~0.45K for the FQS 13CO(1-0) cubes.

CADE currently delivers 12CO(1-0) and 13CO(1-0) integrated intensity and peak brightness maps of the full FQS region using the survey's public DR1. To facilitate processing, the original WCS FITS data cubes were binned to 1km/s prior to the generation of the HEALpix moment maps delivered by CADE.
